TNHSXC 9/1 update

Good evening TNHSXC family.  I'm sure you're all excited to be heading into a four day weekend.  First, I want to say thank you to all of those that came out in support last night as we pulled off another terrific event.  Coaches rave all the time about our course and our campus, but most of all they comment on the strength of our parent support.

Congrats to our girls on their convincing win over a nice seven team field!  Times across all of the races weren't stupendous with the slick and hot/humid conditions but the kids showed some grit and raced hard.  Our boys high school team saw some bright spots amongst a few rough outings as they fell short on a tie break!  When there is a tie in XC they go to the 6th man and we lost the race for 2nd to Bardstown.  Valuable lesson in the importance of depth as they fell to 3rd.  The middle schoolers also really stepped up racing without Lane and Nolan, two consistent scorers.  Lots of new faces notching first XC finishes in Alexis, Madison, Kristyn, Carson, Sam, Tori and the return of Edina!

Well done! Results are attached.
There are a lot of opportunities to get better this weekend.  First off - run no matter where you are this weekend.  My ideal schedule looks like -

Friday - :30 shake out run +strides, stretch and elevate legs
Saturday - 1mi warm-up, race 5k, 2mi cool down
Sunday - off
Monday - 1mi warm-up, race 5k or 10k, 2mi cool down

If an athlete is not racing either of those events, they have to run on their own!!!  No one can afford to take four days off at this most crucial point in the season.  I try to remind them all the time - the kids that they want to beat are training.  Hard.

Saturday, 9/3 - Run for the Gold (E'town Sports Park)
Varsity races are under the lights - it's awesome!  We are now NOT running middle schoolers as almost none of them could come.  Please continue to let me know which of you cannot make it.  So far I know Andrew and Clay are out.

Labor Day, 9/5 - NDurance Labor Day 5k/10k (at Nelson County High School)
TNHS Runners receive special discounted entry of $15!!!
This is an open road race that anyone can run in.  It's a fantastic community event, and I hope that our families are out in force.  This year, as well as benefiting our friends at NCXC, the race will make a donation to the Pinkston family to help offset Randy's medical expenses during his cancer treatment.  For those kids already competing two days prior in E'town, it'll be run as nice hard tempo run. (experienced high schoolers will be encouraged to join me in running the 10k).

Lots of growth opportunities this weekend - everyone have safe travels.

Matt
