TNHSXC - 8/23 Update

Good Tuesday morning TNHSXC family.  One of my favorite parts of coaching is seeing our program grow.  Getting young people out running and developing that talent is what inspires me and drives this team.  We have welcomed some fresh new faces this week and are always looking to add more.  Help us by spreading the word about about Popsicle Races, the West Nelson Middle Schools running program, and our fantastic high school teams.

XC uniform / spiritwear orders - attached is our order form for spiritwear and uniforms, which will also come home today.  Once a kid has a uniform for XC or track, they're good to go so long as it fits and they don't lose it.  I will be ordering uniform pieces earlier than the spiritwear order is going in.  If you know your athlete requires a uniform or a piece of one, then include that on your order form and in the amount paid, but they will be done by next Monday because that is our team picture day.  The spriritwear will come in a couple weeks later.

Next Monday, 8/29 Team Pictures  - 4:30 on the football field all high school and middle school runners need to be there in uniform.

So what opportunities are coming up for our harriers?  As we discussed as a team at practice yesterday - I focus a lot on the individual runners, their growth, and then on the purpose of a particular event and how it applies to our team.

Tomorrow, Popsicle Race #2 at NCHS.  5:30 sign ups, first race goes off at 6:00.  Our middle school team is looking great - let's keep this thing rolling!

Saturday 8/27, Tiger Run Invitational at Champions Park (old River Road Country Club, Louisville)
Attending this meet will be six varsity boys and five varsity girls that have already had some racing experience and/or summer training.   Boys 9:50, girls 10:35.  Be there at the tent ready to warm up by 9:00.   I will be departing TNHS fieldhouse at 8:00 for anyone wishing to caravan.

Next Saturday, 9/3 - Run for the Gold (E'town Sports Park)
This meet has been a Labor Day weekend tradition since its inception three years ago.  Varsity races are under the lights - it's awesome!  We will run a full MS, JV and Varsity teams this year.  Please let me know ASAP if someone cannot be there.

Labor Day, 9/5 - NDurance Labor Day 5k/10k (at Nelson County High School)
This is an open road race that anyone can run in.  It's a fantastic community event, and I hope that our families are out in force.  This year, as well as benefiting our friends at NCXC, the race will make a donation to the Pinkston family to help offset Randy's medical expenses during his cancer treatment.   For those kids already competing two days prior in E'town, it'll be run as nice hard tempo run. (experienced high schoolers will be encouraged to join me in running the 10k).

I know that's a lot of info.  Be on the lookout for picture order forms, spiritwear order forms and handbooks today!
