Good evening TNHSXC family. It's an exciting time of year, teaching and coaching a fall sport, and things are off to a great start. I've challenged the kids to help in recruiting, and parents can help too. Things to remember - cross country is for anyone that wants to have fun, wants to be a part of the finest group of student-athletes in the school, we don't cut anyone, everyone competes, and running is a healthy, life-long sport. And, it's never too late to join us.
Big thanks to everyone for baking and working the bake sale this past Friday - your efforts raised $540 toward warm-ups for the kids. Fantastic work! Pam has set up another date for Saturday, August 22nd. We'll need lots of goods and will start at 8.
TNHSXC Middle Schools practice - beginning tomorrow MS kids will begin practice at 4:30. We look forward to building our program under the flag of West Nelson - Renegade Running. They will train Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Next week, Wednesday's practice will give way to the first of the Popsicle Races. See below.

Tuesday, Aug. 18 - Nelson Co. Hokum Karem. 5:30 This is HS event, and is essentially a scrimmage. It's coach-timed and is a relay format. For example Tyler and Jake might make up a team. First Tyler runs 2.5k, then Jake runs 2.5k, the Tyler again and Jake again. Each runner will have two splits for 1/2 a 5k each. It's for fun and to get in a little hard running on a hard course.
Wednesday, Aug. 19 start the annual Popsicle Races - follow link topopsicleraces.blogspot.com and share, share, share! These are K-8th grade, they're free and the kids get popsicles for their efforts. Our HS kids will need to stay after practice and help work the event if they're available. Looks closely at this photo - some of these kids have graduated!
Tuesday, Sept. 1 - Weeknight Warfare XC All-comers Please put this date on your calendars as one where we will need your help. We host fantastic events, and the parents make it possible.
