TNHSXC 9/9 update

Good morning TNHSXC family.  We've had some tremendous performances in the last week, and the kids have been putting in some fantastic workouts through this really tough training block (ask your HS runner why 7+7=7).

The Run For The Gold saw us post some great times - season bests across the board and some huge PR's!  Then Monday's Labor Day 5k/10k was another tremendous outing with middle schoolers rocking out the 5k and many folks braving the 10k - plus it's great seeing the parents out there.  Represent!

Tomorrow is the 13th Annual Iron Horse 5k
We will open registration at 7:00 in the New Haven School gym.  I will need some help both with registration and marshalling the course.  Our races are great because of our family support, please come early and help this wonderful community event run smoothly.  Our kids race for $10, which basically covers the cost of the shirt/awards.  And, remember this is open to anyone and we get the profit - get folks off the couch and moving!

Next Tuesday, Sept. 13 - Bernard Keene Invitational at NCHS
This is a great meet, albeit on a hard course.  We will go head to head with all of our local rivals, and I hope to see some redemption coming off of Weeknight Warfare (except for the girls - they just need to keep on winning ).
Same schedule - 5:30 combined MS then rolling schedule HS girls then HS boys.

SCHEDULE CHANGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Next Saturday, Sept. 17 - Fairgrounds Frenzy at Hardin County Fairgrounds
Instead of going to Trinity Inv. (we are still going to race at EP Tom Sawyer on Oc.t 1) we are opting for the Fairgrounds Frenzy.  The course is more suited to what we will see at Region and the competition suits us better too.  Plus ALL MS AND HS RUNNERS WILL BE COMPETING, thus  adding a really good meet for our middle schoolers.

Looking forward to seeing everyone in New Haven tomorrow -

Matt

TNHSXC 9/1 update

Good evening TNHSXC family.  I'm sure you're all excited to be heading into a four day weekend.  First, I want to say thank you to all of those that came out in support last night as we pulled off another terrific event.  Coaches rave all the time about our course and our campus, but most of all they comment on the strength of our parent support.

Congrats to our girls on their convincing win over a nice seven team field!  Times across all of the races weren't stupendous with the slick and hot/humid conditions but the kids showed some grit and raced hard.  Our boys high school team saw some bright spots amongst a few rough outings as they fell short on a tie break!  When there is a tie in XC they go to the 6th man and we lost the race for 2nd to Bardstown.  Valuable lesson in the importance of depth as they fell to 3rd.  The middle schoolers also really stepped up racing without Lane and Nolan, two consistent scorers.  Lots of new faces notching first XC finishes in Alexis, Madison, Kristyn, Carson, Sam, Tori and the return of Edina!

Well done! Results are attached.
There are a lot of opportunities to get better this weekend.  First off - run no matter where you are this weekend.  My ideal schedule looks like -

Friday - :30 shake out run +strides, stretch and elevate legs
Saturday - 1mi warm-up, race 5k, 2mi cool down
Sunday - off
Monday - 1mi warm-up, race 5k or 10k, 2mi cool down

If an athlete is not racing either of those events, they have to run on their own!!!  No one can afford to take four days off at this most crucial point in the season.  I try to remind them all the time - the kids that they want to beat are training.  Hard.

Saturday, 9/3 - Run for the Gold (E'town Sports Park)
Varsity races are under the lights - it's awesome!  We are now NOT running middle schoolers as almost none of them could come.  Please continue to let me know which of you cannot make it.  So far I know Andrew and Clay are out.

Be there at least 45 minutes prior to your start time.  This is the line up straight from the registration page -

Labor Day, 9/5 - NDurance Labor Day 5k/10k (at Nelson County High School)
TNHS Runners receive special discounted entry of $15!!!
This is an open road race that anyone can run in.  It's a fantastic community event, and I hope that our families are out in force.  This year, as well as benefiting our friends at NCXC, the race will make a donation to the Pinkston family to help offset Randy's medical expenses during his cancer treatment.  For those kids already competing two days prior in E'town, it'll be run as nice hard tempo run. (experienced high schoolers will be encouraged to join me in running the 10k).

Lots of growth opportunities this weekend - everyone have safe travels.

TNHSXC 8/30 update

Good evening TNHSXC family.  Tomorrow is our first meet of the season and the course looks awesome.  Big thanks to the guys that helped mark it today.  We will need a lot of help tomorrow in a few different spots.

First is at the finish line.  I will have the timer, and we have an official.  Beyond that we have - Christy Edlin reading off numbers and Stephanie Ballard afer 6:00.  We still need a number recorder and at least four people to work the chute.

Next is concessions.  With enough help, middle school parents can step out for a minute while the first race is going on, then come back to relieve the high school girl parents so they can see the 6:00 race.  We won't have really big crowds like we have at track meets or at the Hillbilly Run.

Beyond that, having a few folks out on the course is really beneficial.  Please, please, please come and contribute!

Weeknight Warfare XC All-comers   Every TNHSXC team member will  be running - REPRESENT!!!

This meet has been a Labor Day weekend tradition since its inception three years ago.  Varsity races are under the lights - it's awesome!  We are now not running middle schoolers as almost none of them could come.  Please continue to let me know which of you cannot make it.  So far I know Andrew and Clay are out.

Labor Day, 9/5 - NDurance Labor Day 5k/10k (at Nelson County High School)
